Rural Geriatrics Fellowship Program
The Geriatric Research, Education and Clinical Center (GRECC) at the James J. Peters VA Medical Center in Bronx, New York is one of 19 VA centers of excellence in geriatrics, research, education, and clinical models of care. The Bronx VA GRECC is offering a new and exciting one-year fellowship program in rural geriatrics beginning July 2014. This fellowship program is geared towards board-certified physicians who have already completed an ACGME-accredited Fellowship in Geriatrics. This new, innovative program will utilize a rotational model of training with placement at VA NY/NJ Veterans Healthcare Network (VISN 3) facilities and rural Community Based Outpatient Clinics (CBOCs) in Hudson Valley, NY.
Participants will experience a variety of unique learning opportunities, including telehealth and teleconsultation modalities of care and SCAN/ECHO, as well as benefit from an affiliation with VA Hudson Valley Health Care System and Mount Sinai Medical School. Fellows will be included on interdisciplinary teams at all training sites, receive training in clinical research training and teaching/curriculum development, and take part in the formal career mentoring program.
