OFFICE OF RURAL HEALTH PROGRAM FUNDING

Office of Rural Health Funding

The U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs' (VA) Office of Rural Health (ORH) is charged to increase rural Veterans' access to care. During its tenure, the Office has funded more than 1,700 rural health programs at local VA medical centers, as well as implemented several national initiatives.

Funding is available for VA applicants to implement two types of programs that support rural Veterans' health and well-being:

  • Rural Promising Practices - Field-tested, innovative projects that meet ORH criteria demonstrating improved access to care for rural Veterans
  • Enterprise-Wide Initiatives - Expand national VA program offices’ access to health care efforts to sites that serve rural Veterans
